Bangari Breaks a Million!

Alexa 2013-08-05_0908

Do you have a Web property? That is a blog or a Website. These two types of sites are virtually indistinguishable. Then you should make yourself familiar with Alexa.

Alexa Internet was founded in 1996 by American web entrepreneurs Brewster Kahle and Bruce Gilliat. The company’s name was chosen in homage to the Library of Alexandria

It was purchased by Amazon.com in 1999, from my favorite uncles, Bruce and Brewster…for about $250,000,000… Alexa provides metrics, that is traffic and incoming links stats, on 30 million websites. Its site is visited by over 10 million people monthly. It sells services that will audit your site, one time or monthly, and make recommendations for improvements and fixes.

At the time of this post, the morning after I posted my article on the World Apostolate of Fatima, and our outing at St. Anne’s shrine in Isle La Motte, Vermont…I checked my rank and found it to finally be:

Below One Million (in the world) and near 100,000 in the USA

This is a 2.8 million point change in the last three months. This took a lot of work! The next goal is to drop to the five-digit range in the US. Essentially, out of every 30 people in the world who have a site, Bangari is the most popular. Our rank would climb faster, if more people posted. It’s regular posting of quality content, properly and ethically linked that increases rank.

My Google page rank, which is similar to Alexa rank is still only a one, which with Google is better than zero. Google Page Rank is on a scale of 1 to 10. So, the higher the number, the better the rank. With Alexa, the lower the number, the higher your site ranks.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Many sites, like WordPress and Google’s Sites and Blogger, offer free domains. The only catch is, this isn’t really a domain of your own. Alexa will not rank it. If you did not pay for your WordPress site (about $18 per year) and your domain looks something like this: Yoursite.wordpress.com then Alexa will return ‘no data’ when it tries to rank your site. It needs to say, for instance, Yoursite.com. (with no ‘(dot)blogger’ or ‘(dot)wordpress’ in between) This will cost you a mere couple bucks a month with WordPress for this upgrade. I find it well worth it, because I’m making more money per month, on just a little over 100 page views per day with WordAds, to cover this cost. I haven’t completely monetized this site yet either…So much work to do, so little time!
